AMREF Health Africa is an international African organization with headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. Her vision is for lasting health change in Africa: communities with the knowledge, skills and means to maintain their good health and break the cycle of poor health and poverty. Trailblazers Mentoring program supports AMREF Uganda office on the Menstrual Hygiene and Management program which covers 20 primary schools in Wakiso district in the Central region of Uganda reaching over 1,000 young boys and girls.
The children in the program school have positively embraced the program and gone ahead to break the silence on Menstruation in bid to keep girls in school. The boys are on board, help out in making local pads, sharing knowledge at home and in the community and also support siblings to manage menstruation.
The program beneficiaries have formed health clubs in the 20 schools so that way they can reach more girls and boys in and out of school so they can talk to them about healthy growth, menstrual management and teach them to make home made pads
